A marker is a symbol, a shape or a combination of the two that you position on a map to indicate where a slide is located.

When you mouse over a marker on a map, it changes appearance and its associated slide appears instantaneously.

MapsAlive lets you create your own markers or choose from a selection of preset markers.
Marker Symbols

You can choose one of the markers that comes with MapsAlive.

You can create a marker by uploading any kind of image a graphic, an icon, or a photo to be used as a symbol.

Marker symbols can be related to the subject of their associated slides. For example, a symbol of a coffee cup could be used as a marker for a slide of a coffee house.

A marker symbol can also be generic, such as an arrow or a star.

MapsAlive lets you create markers from shapes.

You can choose from three different shapes circles, rectangles or polygons.

MapsAlive lets you customize the size, color, outline and opacity of your shape markers.
Marker Symbols with Shapes

You can combine background shapes and symbols to create new markers.

You can customize the background shape of your combination marker the same way you customize a regular shape marker.
Marker Actions

You can choose to have a marker take you to another page of your tour, take you to another web site, or execute JavaScript when the marker is clicked.

You can choose to have a tool tip appear when you mouse over a marker. You type the text you want and edit it at any time.
